people talking...
the computer...
someone cooking...
the clinking of silverware...
my fingers typing...
What do you hear?
You will notice that you can easily hear things that are close to you, or perhaps, in the same room. For me, it's the rain, thunder, the computer, and my fingers typing. However, if you listen carefully and are completely still for a moment, you start hearing more and more things. For me, it's people talking, someone cooking, and the clinking of silverware. If you don't take a moment to be still though, it will be harder to hear the various other noises.
That's kind of how it is with God. We want Him to speak to us, and we want to be able to hear Him (I mean, not like a loud voice coming from the sky). But to be able to hear Him, we simply need to take a few moments to be still and listen.
"Be still in the presence of the Lord, and wait patiently for him to act." Psalm 37:7

Beautiful post my friend. so true. It is so hard for me to often sit still.
