Anti-homosexuality

My amazing blogger friend, Eldarwen, inspired me greatly by her One Man and One Woman post. If you haven't read it, I strongly encourage you to read it.

Now, I am not posting this to copy what she wrote or offend anyone. Over the last few days though, the wrongness of homo-sexuality has been on my mind and I have decided to post my feelings about it. This is my blog, therefore I have permission to post whatever I want.

There are some people who are homo-sexual and say that God is ok with it. They claim they are Christians, claim that God is ok with it. No, He is not in any way ok with it. Here are a few Bible verses that explain how how He feels about it:

1 Corinthians 6:9-10 - "Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God."

Leviticus 18:22 - "Do not lie with a man as one lies with a woman; that is detestable."

Leviticus 20:13 - "If a man lies with a man as one lies with a woman, both of them have done what is detestable. They must be put to death; their blood will be on their own heads."

People who are homo-sexual and claim that God is ok with it, are wrong. He is not ok with it.

I recently saw a video on a lady's blog that was about a guy who is gay, but says that he is a Christian. He said in the video that he was praying about his feelings for guys, and said "I just surrendered myself to the Lord...................and God kept me gay." Sorry to burst your bubble, but God did not keep you gay.

Choosing to live that life style is a choice. It is merely a choice. God does not tell people "It is ok to be gay. Go ahead, live that way."

Also in the video, people complain about being alienated, ignored, etc. They made the video sound as if we're just horrible to homo-sexual people and despise them. No, that is not true. Why do they feel 'alienated' and 'ignored'? Well, because some people are probably disgusted with who they have chosen to be. And it is disgusting. It would be completely gross to view two males or two females 'together' in that sort of way.

People also could argue, "Well the Bible also says 'Do not lie' and I'm sure you've told lies before!" Ok, yes, that is true. But, living a homo-sexual lifestyle is living in a world of sin. Telling a lie is not. Though it is not right to lie, it is not just living in a world of sin.

I do not hate people who are homo-sexual at all. I do not at all agree with it, but I do not hate them

You may have a completely different opinion on this subject, but I have mine as well.

  1. How can you say this? They're human beings too; it's not their choice, it's how they were born. This post is so narrow-minded in the "wrongness" of homosexuality that it makes me feel terrible that humans could be so prejudiced.

You are prejudiced, and never mind what the Bible says. This is disgusting.

  2. Thank you Anna Gray :)
You hit the nail on the head. To anonymous, The USA is "One Nation Under God." God says homosexuality is wrong.

  3. Woohoo! You go girl! AMEN! When people say "God made them that way"... whoa whoa whoa! That is totally, completely wrong. God gave us a will. He gave us a choice. He doesn't force us to live a life of sin. Hello! That is NOT God. He would never lead you to sin. He would never make a person homosexual, and then say (in His written word, the Bible) that it disgusts Him.

Also, the guy in that video was pointing out that people ignore the verses that tell us not to lie (etc.), like you said, but does that give him the right to sin, also? So let's say I see someone murder another person. Or hear about it. "ALRIGHT! That means I can sin, too, because they just did it, right?" Wrong. Those people are sinning, like the young man pointed out. Just because they sin, doesn't mean he can put it off on them and say, "Well, they're ignoring these verses, so it's okay to ignore the homosexual ones, too." (Now, I know that's not what he said, but that's what he was implying). That's completely wrong. I have been praying for that boy, ever since I watched that video. :/

I really just don't understand how someone could think that God would be okay with their sin. Homosexuality IS a sin. People can make excuses all day long, but when they face God on judgement day, they're not going to like the result. >_>

And, yes, we're all sinners. I'm not saying that homosexuals are any worse than murderers, liars, thieves, adulterers, etc. They're equal, in fact. Sin is sin, so no sinner is worse than another. If you sin, you are a sinner, no matter how many times you've done it. We're ALL guilty of sin, every one of us. But that's why Jesus died on the cross for us. So that we can ask for forgiveness, be forgiven, repent and live with the Father in heaven someday. But if we keep living in our sin, and we don't REPENT, there will be no "living in heaven with Him and the Father". We MUST turn from our sinful ways and acknowledge Christ!

Everyone has a choice. Even homosexuals. God would not create a few humans with a will and choice, and some without one. And OF COURSE He loves homosexuals. But He HATES their homosexuality. I don't hate homosexuals. I don't look down on them. I'm a sinner too. We're all sinners, like I said. But still, homosexuality disgusts me. It's just a fact. That doesn't mean I'm completely turned off by the PEOPLE and want nothing to do with them. If I had the chance to comfort that boy from the video, I would jump right on it! But I wouldn't tell him that his life of sin is okay. I wouldn't agree with him, I would simply witness to him, and be a loving Christian. But just because I'm loving towards Him, just like God is towards us, does not mean I love his sin.

Sorry for the long comment, Anna. I just... get going and can't stop. Haha. Sorry. :)

Love you! So glad you're speaking out on this!

  4. Leviticus says gay sex is wrong, not the thought of loving a member of the same gender. Leviticus also says mixing seeds in fields is wrong, and the Old Testament has basically stated that the rules of Leviticus have been outdated. In the Bible, no one says that God dislikes homosexual thoughts. He only dislikes homosexual sex. Thoughts can't send someone to Hell.

Also you can't CONTROL thinking someone of the same gender is attractive. They're THOUGHTS, something that simply can not be controlled, as much as you try to control them.

  5. ..Think about it from another religion. And "one nation under god" doesn't imply that it's all about Christians, it could mean a buddhist god. Also, it's called love. Why should you hate something, like homosexuality, when it's all about love? And don't say god is love, because I'm looking at it from another or no religion.

Actually, homosexuality is a choice. No one is "born that way." Take a serial killer for example. You could say they were "born that way" or even a prostitute and say the same thing. No, both of those sterotypes were not "born that way"; and it's the same with people who are homo-sexual. It's a choice.

    Read 1 Corinthians 6:9-10 thoroughly

Even referring to another religion, it does imply that it is talking about Christian peoples' God. America was found by Christians, and "One Nation under God" is referring to the one true God. It is not saying "One Nation under a God."

  7. First, what is sin? It is the state of separation from God. And sins are the acts that put you into that state. This is a conscious choice, so it is true that thoughts are not sins. It is what you do with them that makes you sin.

If you are at a store, and want a new cd from your favorite artist, but don't have the money, you may have a fleeting thought, 'just take it; no one will know'. The question is, what do you do with that thought? Do you immediately dismiss it? Do you ponder it for a moment, look around to see if someone is watching, search out surveillance cameras? Do you put it in your bag and walk away?

Anything beyond the first response-complete dismissal- is playing with fire. And even if you don't steal, the next time you might be more tempted, and the next, etc. until one day you slip it into your pocket and walk away. It's the same with any temptation, and some people may be tempted to an attraction for someone of their own gender. It's just one of a million temptations, no worse than any of the others, but still, if carried out, leads to total separation from God.

  8. Yes, it is true that people can't take control over their thoughts (they can to an extent though). But you, anonymous, are missing my point. I'm not talking about thoughts we have that are bad (doesn't everybody?!) I'm talking about homosexuality and the wrongness of the things people DO when they are homo-sexual. Pondering the thoughts of loving (in the wrong way) your same gender is a bad thought. Thinking of murdering someone is also a bad thought (same concept). If God condemned people to hell for having a bad thought (such as the above and much more) then a whole lot of people would be going to hell. BUT, the Bible does not say that having a bad thought (back to the above) will cause you to lose eternal life (I do not recall the Bible saying that a bad thought is a sin either).

  11. Just some more opinions of mine... I know... I'm horrible. I just feel that there's a great need to support homosexuals.

    You said....

"I recently saw a video on a lady's blog that was about a guy who is gay, but says that he is a Christian. He said in the video that he was praying about his feelings for guys, and said "I just surrendered myself to the Lord...................and God kept me gay." Why do they feel 'alienated' and 'ignored'? Well, because some people are probably disgusted with who they have chosen to be. And it is disgusting. It would be completely gross to view two males or two females 'together' in that sort of way."

But how do you know God didn't keep him gay?? Those verses in Leviticus are in the Old Testament- and they aren't in red. So they aren't Christ's words- because in my Bible, the words of Christ are clearly stated in bold red. We don't know how God is working in a person's life. We are NOT in their mind, and we are not in their heart. Only GOD is.
The way I read this post, it says God isn't okay with gays and he basicly doesn't love them as much as "normal" people. THat's just the thing I get from it.

I can totally see why gays 'complain' of being alienated and ignored. It's because they ARE.

" people are probably disgusted with who they have chosen to be. And it is disgusting. It would be completely gross to view two males or two females 'together' in that sort of way."

    It is not disgusting.
Why not be differrent? Be yourselves, people. If that means your anti-homosexuals, good for you, but please. They are people. Maybe even better people than us.
I hope someday soon people will just accept them for who they are and stop trying to change their lives.
    Just my thoughts.
    GO GAYS! :)
