It doesn't feel like it has been two years since I got you. It seems like yesterday that I was about to bounce out of my seat in the van, due to excitement about picking out a hamster. I remember I got butterflies in my stomach as I stepped into PetsMart and headed over to the hamster section. I looked at each of the hamsters, but when I laid eyes on you, I knew you were the perfect hamster for me! Your coat of fur was jet black with a patch of white on your chest, your nose and dainty little paws bright pink, and you didn't try to jump out of my hands when I held you in the PetsMart.
I did my very first post about you here.
^The very first picture we got of you the day I got you (April 30, 2009)
You always loved climbing and your wheel! Even though you were nocturnal, sometimes I'd catch you in the middle of the day running on your wheel or climbing the bars of your cage. It was always funny to watch your itty bitty pink feet running so fast!
And remember when you were elected Pet of the Day? It was so cute seeing you on that website and having two photos of you complete with a Pet of the Day plaque on them!
You always loved fruits, especially apples and strawberries. Even the tiniest piece of strawberry looked huge compared to your teeny, pink hands!
Even though some people would say that you're "just a hamster", you were a wonderful one and I miss you!

ReplyDeleteBenji is so cute! I'm so sorry for your loss! It's hard to lose any pet, especially one that is that cute and lovey!
ReplyDeleteI'm your newest follower and I'm so glad I found you! I cannot wait to read more!
So far I have loved the posts I have read!
Awwww, sorry for your loss. My daughter had hamsters when she was younger and they are so cute! It looks like Benji had a really great life as your pet! If you don't already know, two years is the life expectancy, so for a hamster he led a good long life. The pics are cute and show you took very good care of him. :o)
ReplyDeleteAwww...I am so, so sorry to hear about Benji, Anna; I know how it feels to lose a hamster. Just know that he was lucky to have shared his life with someone as amazing as you. RIP. :(
