Lindsey was....
cute
freckly faced
smiley
loving
selfless
happy and...
a Christian
Yesterday we went to Lindsey Hipp's funeral (the 12 year old who passed away in the car accident). Although we didn't know each other very well, I have known her since I was about a year old.
Even though we didn't always hang out together, there were some great/humerus stories about her at the funeral yesterday. Three people preached at the funeral. Our pastor, Dan; Then two other men. I even remember something specific about Lindsey (I will tell you in a second).
Apparently she LOVED animals/stuffed animals. There was a slide show of her and her family at yesterday and in a lot of the pictures, she was with many different dogs. Gotta say, she was definitely like me in that area.
Not only did she love animals, but I think that she had GREAT taste in fashion. Every time I saw her at church, she would always have something super cute on. Whether it was shorts and a t-shirt, it was always something stylish.
One of the specific things I remember about her, was when I was about 6 yrs. old, I thought she had on the best looking shoes. They were black and your big toe went through a loop. When I saw them, I wanted a pair just like them. Unfortunately though, the pair I got were pink, not black like she had.
I honestly don't know how the heck I remember that (I mean come on, that was what, 8 years ago???).
Something else about Lindsey, is that after she died, her 8 organs were donated. What a great legacy she left behind.
We will miss Lindsey, but we will see her again someday.
Be sure to continue to keep her family in your prayers. Especially her older sister, Nicole. They are all going through a very rough time right now.

11 You turned my wailing into dancing;
you removed my sackcloth and clothed me with joy,
12 that my heart may sing to you and not be silent.
O LORD my God, I will give you thanks forever. Psalm 30:11-12

I'll bet that funeral was so hard. That is so sad...praying for her family. It is a blessing to know that you will see her again in heaven.
ReplyDeleteThis is such a beautiful tribute to Lindsey. I'm so sorry you had to experience so much upset at her funeral. Even though you may not have been great friends, or known each other well, it is amazing how much of an impact someone can have on you. She is in my prayers. As are you - honestly, you have such a kind heart; and you never cease to amaze me with your compassion. :)
