i am my hair

Remember in this post where I mentioned my mom actually liking Gaga's song, Hair? Yep. You heard me. My mom actually thinks that song has a good message. Like I have said before, my mom absolutely cannot stand her. She thinks she's vulgar, creepy, etc. In this case, however, Mom {shockingly} agrees with the song.

And I do too.

Take a look at the lyrics to the chorus:

I just wanna be myself
And I want you to love me for who I am
I just wanna be myself
And I want you to know, I am my hair
I’ve had enough, this is my prayer
That I’ll die living just as free as my hair
I’ve had enough, this is my prayer
That I’ll die living just as free as my hair
I’ve had enough, I’m not a freak
I’ll just keep fighting to stay cool on the streets
I’ve had enough, enough, enough
And this is my prayer, I swear
I’m as free as my hair
I’m as free as my hair
I am my hair
I am my hair

Our hair is a major part of what defines us. It is what helps us feel confident, pretty, and of course, unique {ladies}. So many times things are said to us like, "Now you're planning to grow your hair out longer, aren't you?" if you're wanting your hair to stay short; or "Oh, I think you should keep your hair short. You should get some layers too, you'd look older!" if you're wanting to grow your hair out one length. Now those type quotes are not exactly mean, but they are peoples' secretive ways of really saying, "You really should change your hair." Therefore we feel obligated to change our looks according to what others want; not what we want. True, no?

We should never feel pressured to change the way we look just because of what others think of us. No one should be allowed to control how we look. Be yourself, and have your hair the way you want it. If you want a blue mohawk, then get a blue mohawk! If you want crazy layers, blond highlights, and pink bangs, then get that! If you want simple, one length, long hair, then get it!

When we try to please others by getting what they want, it feels as if we're confined in a small cage, all locked up. But when we choose our hair and get it the way we want it, we feel a remarkable sense of freedom and confidence.

Musings

I really should have waited to link up with Miscellany Monday before I post this. But, I simply did not have the patience to and have decided to post it now (go figure...)....

To start things off, today I got a haircut! I really like it, if I may say so myself. I got a full set of bangs which I haven't had since I was what...six years old? Ha!

Before (I know, I know...kind of strange photo):

After:

And did you all watch the finale for American Idol last night? I did! I originally wanted Lauren to win, but deep down inside my heart I *really* wanted adorable little Scotty to win. And hey - he scored some brownie points with me considering that he lives what, two hours away from me?!

^Is he wearing tennis shoes? Yep - he definitely is aging.

I have already decided that when I move to Los Angeles, California, Steve Tyler and I are going to have coffee together every Monday....

Lady Gaga and I are going to be best friends. I shall be her fashion designer and help pick out scantly clad  bikinis and high-heeled boots for her to frolic about in.

Kidding...sort of. ;D

What was she supposed to be standing on last night anyway? A deformed looking hunk of stones, a casket, an oddly shaped box? Hmmm...

Scotty and Lauren are totally going to get married. I know they are. They are Christian, cute, country, AND close in age. *Sigh* just look at them *so cute*.

And also, my lovely friends, if you haven't entered my giveaway yet, be sure to enter!

It's Ok To Mess Up

Rihanna fell on stage

Lady Gaga fell on stage

Katy Perry fell on stage.............in cake icing.

Beyonce fell down stairs....................on stage

Have you ever been thoroughly humiliated about something you did; whether it was on a stage like those people, or just something silly? Those videos just show that it is ok to mess up. I mean, they messed up and humiliated themselves in front of thousands of people. Not only did they mess up and humiliate themselves in front of thousands of people, but their messups were also put on YouTube for anyone anywhere to watch.

If you ever do make a silly mistake or do something completely embarrassing, just know it's not the end of the world. It happens to everyone. Celebs, singers, runway models, every day people.

It happens.

Do you ever wonder,

why such amazing artists like Ke$ha and Lady Gaga are.....the way they are? Some of their lyrics aren't that great. I will admit that I really enjoy their music and both of them are probably my favorite artists! But why waste such talent by dressing in skimpy leotards, revealing tight shirts, skin suits, etc.?

Both of them have amazing voices (especially Lady Gaga), but they sing about some pretty dirty stuff....for example, Lady Gaga's hit song 'Poker Face,' and Ke$ha's hit song 'Blah, blah, blah.'

But seriously, I wonder why they just 'have' to sing about sexual things. What's the point of doing it? I mean, you can sing about perfectly clean things but still be popular and have your adoring fans.

I wonder why they (mainly Lady Gaga, though) dress the way they do.......

By dressing like this............

and this.........

and this......

What was your first reaction when you saw these pictures? (by the way, if you're wondering, no I DID NOT google these by any means!).

You were probably thinking "What in the world?!" and your eyes probably got really wide, and you were probably shocked (not saying you were, but I'm guessing you were).

I'm thinking that's maybe why she dresses the way she does. For shock value. That's part of how she makes her money, is because she dresses in her 'odd ball' outfits, and people want to see more of what she has to offer.

Do you think maybe so?

I'm just not 100% positive. Don't get me wrong, she is extremely talented, but I just wonder why these famous artists dress and sing the lyrics they do.

Do you ever wonder why? I sure do.
