southerner or northerner?

 

  Back when I was a very small child {complete with chubby cheeks} I always pronounced my words as if I came from somewhere like...Maine? Wisconsin? Somewhere up north. Now I was born in Lexington, North Carolina (and yes, where I live...there ARE red necks). Whereas most kids would say the word dog "dawg" I would say...well..."dog." It was the same with other words such as "off", "on", blah blah blah. You get the point, right? And yes - I still do talk like that.

 

I never really had a defined accent either (and still don't). It's like I barely have a hint of a southern accent, but I talk like I'm from up North. I never say the word "y'all" and I most certainly don't use the word "ain't" (I have banned that word from my vocabulary...I refuse to say it). Once a hairdresser even commented on my unique accent. Funny thing is, my mom has a very southern accent (after all she's from South Carolina...and no she does not say "ain't"), my dad has a slight accent, but me...well...it's confusing

So where in the world is this leading to, you ask?

Would you put me in the category of a Southerner or a Northerner?

1. I eat grits and casseroles

2. I have the teeniest *hint* of a southern accent

3. I was born in Lexington, North Carolina
4. I drink {extremely} sweet tea

Facts that could make me a Northerner

1. I don't say y'all or ain't
2. I don't pronounce anything like dog "dawg"
3. I don't wear cowboy boots or cowboy hats

Thoughts of Spring Blog Party!



Since Lynnette announced that there was going to be another blog party, I have been so excited! I just love answering questions and blog hopping to see what others put as their answers. This is also a great way to meet new bloggers.

Here are my answers...

How would people describe your personality? (If they could only use ONE word.) Are they right? Sarcastic. They are 100% correct.


What celebrity/celebrities would create a “Star-Struck” feeling if you saw them in real life? Lady Gaga all the way! I love her music (with my parents previewing the lyrics before I put them on my itouch) and I think I would probably faint is I had the chance to meet her.

Who is your favorite blogger? Why? I would have to say Bleah Briann over at With Love & Kisses. She truly is just herself and isn't at all the *ahem* type of blogger that is full of herself. At some blogs, you see, you feel like they are not posting what is truly on their mind (whether it is funny, silly, deep, important, etc). But Bleah does and I encourage you to go to check out her blog and follow her.
What is your comfort food/drink? *embarrassed grin* water is honestly my comfort drink and my mom's chocolate chip pie is definitely a comfort food (nobody makes pie better than she does! Just sayin').

Be brave – tell us something very random and weird about yourself. I am addicted to putting lotion on my hands (Ha! I should go on 'My Strange Addictions'). Don't laugh...ok go ahead. I constantly feel like my hands are dry and I always keep a hearty amount of lotion in my purse (Sweet pea is currently the lotion I have). Is that weird? Neh.

Do you have a strong desire to do something you’ve never done? What is it? Since I was about ten years old I have always wanted to travel to California. Some people say "Oh you don't want to go there, it is trashy and there's smog in the air." But there are also others who say it is gorgeous and I know a few bloggers who live there and from the photos they share, it looks like paradise!

Movies: Action, Drama, Romantic Comedy, Documentary, Comedy? What are your favorite genres? I love drama and thriller movies. My favorite drama/romance movie is Confessions of a Shopaholic (Rebbecca, I can totally relate to you) and my favorite thriller movie would have to be Jeepers Creepers (TV version!). Good stuff, people!

Books: Fiction, Non-Fiction, Romance, Biographies, True Stories, Self-Help, Devotional/Study? What are your favorite types of reading material? If I'm being honest, I'm not much of a book reader myself. However, I love biographies and true stories. Shirley Temple has a very interested biography and true story wise, The Hiding Place is wonderful.

Music: Funk, Rock, Country, Jazz, Classical, Film Score, Blues, Classic Rock, Crooner, Alternative, Heavy Metal, Techno? What are your favorite types? Pop/pop country is right up my alley!

If you inherited a million dollars, what is the first thing you would do with your money? Do I seriously have to answer the first thing I'd do? *Sigh* fine. Pay off our family's house.

Name one weakness of yours (confession is good for the soul). Loving bratty people that I sincerely do not like.

If you could live anywhere at all (and take all your loved ones with you), where would you go? Los Angeles, California.

Strange Talent? Can you juggle basketballs, put your legs behind your head or perform some other strange feat? I am a cat whisperer. Crazy cat girl? Nope. Cat whisperer? Yes.

What’s something you consider yourself to be good at? (Don’t worry, it’s not bragging, it’s acknowledging a God given gift). Gymnastics. I am fairly flexible and learned to do an ankle stretch in one week and could do back hand springs, splits, and front tucks at the age of seven. That did sound bratty! Pssht.

What is one of your favorite things to catch a whiff of? Coffee. Glorious, coffee.

When you leave a social gathering, do you wish: You would have talked more or You would have talked less? Talked more. For some odd reason (unless I'm with my friends/family) I tend to be very quiet.

If money wasn’t a factor, what stores would you shop in? Aeropostale, Ross, and Dillard's.

What is your greatest fear or strange phobia? Puking. It is disgusting and I cannot stand it. I actually haven't gotten sick on my stomach since I was nine, but if anyone throws up...it sends me into a great frenzy.

What is your greatest accomplishment? Oh my...let me think here...probably saving up and purchasing my itouch. Let me tell you, I am terrible at saving up for things, but for this...I saved up for it in two months and literally spent no money the whole time I was saving for it.

What are your favorite animals? Hamsters, cats, and bunnies. I am a huge fan of furry little rodents and cats. In fact, I own a hamster named Benji.

10 Things about Me...

Hi everyone! I decided to do a '10 things about me' post that Lynnette is wanting people to do. Feel free to do one too! These kinds of surveys are made to be passed on. So, read on, and enjoy!

1) I am obsessed with the state California. That's a fact about me. It's my favorite state EVER. You may wonder why I love the state, what made, and how the heck is California your favorite state above all the others??? Well, here it is in super short version. It became my favorite state when my mom's BFF, Jenny (one of my role models), got onto the show Biggest Loser a few years ago. Sadly, she didn't make it past the interview there, but she did make it out to Cali. So that's how it became my favorite state.

2) Adam Lambert rocks! Not only is he one of the hottest creatures best looking, awesome, cool, unique, weird, and most handsome yet odd man in the world, but he sings SO GOOD. A ton of people are all like, "Yuck, I don't like him because he 'screams' every song." Yes, yes he does scream every song; but he screams ON KEY! So, Adam Lambert is my favorite singer.

3) I have a habit of biting my fingernails. Weird fact about me, huh? LOL. I have been biting them since..well....since I had nails and had teeth! I stop at times, but then the habit just starts ALL OVER AGAIN. I really do try to stop, but it is so incredibly hard. Any suggestions on how to stop (besides just making yourself)?

4) I wear dresses all the time. No, I am not Amish, Pentecostal, or Jehovah's witness; it's just that it is so hard to find things that fit me in the waist and that are comfortable. I am probably the world's most picky girl when it comes to clothing. So if you see me in a dress in pics (which you probably have many times, friends) just know I am BAPTIST.

5) Water anyone? Water is my favorite drink. I used to HATE drinking it. I found it pretty bland, disgusting, and tasteless. BUT, it became my BFF last year when I was in dance class and I got dehydrated in a stuffy room and forgot to pack a water bottle. My mouth went dry, my face went pale, I felt sick on my stomach, and I was extremely thirsty. From then on, I have LOVED water.

6) I am home-schooled and love it! My mom started home-schooling my brother and me when I was in second grade, and when he was in fourth grade. The first two years it was awful. I wanted to go back to public school SO BADLY! That's when I was younger and didn't know the real world though. Now, I would probably scream if I had to go back to a public school. Home-schooling rocks.

7) I was named after my uncle and my great grandmother. My great grandmother's name was Anna (she died about10 or 11 years ago); so that's how I got my first name. Then my uncle's name is Grayson; so Mom took Gray from that, and used it as my middle name. A few years ago though, we found out that my great, great, great grandmother's name was Anna Gray! What a coincidence! We NEVER knew that my great, great, great grandmother's name was Anna Gray. Very strange, yet cool, I know!

8) We have 7 pets. 5 outdoor pets, and two indoor pets. Let's start with the eldest of the animals. First came our 'faithful ole dog' Hannah. My dad found her 5 years ago when she was a puppy, running around the parking lot at a YMCA. Next came a few other pets that died, and then came Rufus, my brother's hamster. Rufus is now 2 years old. After Rufus and a few other hamsters that died came along my little baby, Benjamin (nickname: Benji). I got Benji back in May when he was a baby. He is probably the BIGGEST baby hamster I have EVER seen. If you have or haven't seen this post, then you can see what he looks like and how precious he is! The last of the pets, are the 4 baby chicks we bought yesterday! We bought some Rhode Island Reds; and they are SO CUTE! Their names are Marley, Lily, Gi Gi, and Sally. The 4 we bought two days ago, are now dung from our dog Hannah, who ate them.

9) I hate Lima beans. They're totally gross.

10) I am wanting to act, and model. I have done many dramas and I have been in the play, "The Wizard of Oz". One day I heard something announced on the radio for acting, modeling, singing, and dancing. I was pretty interested, so I emailed the radio station, they gave me the name of the website so I could check it out, and I registered. That's how I discovered AMTC. AMTC is not an agency, it is a program that you go through in Florida. What you do (if you're accepted), is you go to Florida for a week, trainers train you, and at the end of the week, you perform in front of many different agencies, and that's how you can get jobs. That's the short version of it though. Anyway, I tried out for it, got accepted, they said I should also do commercial modeling, and guess what? I couldn't go this year. I couldn't do it because it would be WAY TOO MUCH money. So now, I am just wanting to get local jobs, build up my resume, save up the money for AMTC myself, and do AMTC.
