meet martin.

Now most of you lovelies know that I reallyreallyreally love rodents. They hold a special place in my heart. Yeah seriously - they do! Something about the softness of their silky fur, beady little eyes - cute, cute, cute. Oh yes.

Anyway...

To put this story into a much shorter, condensed version:

This morning around 7:00, my dad saw something on the hood of his truck. He brought inside a Pet's Mart box, pretzel sticks {for small animals}, and two notes which implied something was in it. I was still in bed but saw some lights on in our den and heard my mom squeal. A little while later I forced myself out of bed to see what was going on. It turned out there was a rat in the Pet's Mart box. Yes, a rat. Two of my dad's students played a prank and set on my dad's truck....(come on, say it with me...) a rat.

Conclusion: We now have a rat. However, we are currently fostering it and it may have a new home tomorrow. Yayhoo.

Meet Martin Luther King Jr. (what he was apparently named by the two students):

Personally, I think he is absolutely precious! We just can't keep him though because we don't really have anywhere to put his humongous cage and he will cost too much to keep up.

The end.

Also, I am entering my sweet friend, Lucia's photo contest! The theme is "the little things" which is right up my alley because I enjoy photographing itty bitty, charming things.

A lonesome feather.

Mock Trial

Surely I would not have left you lovely readers in the dark, right? I promise I have not forgotten about you guys, it's just that I have had a very stressful, tense and nerve racking week. Yesterday evening, my Challenge B group and I participated in mock trial. And oh. My. Freaking. Gosh. I wasn't just a little nervous, I was utterly terrified. I was an attorney for Prosecution and for Defense I was on trial for supposedly murdering my husband.

You see, we had to do it in an actual court room, in front of a judge, in front of a jury panel, in front of 40 something spectators AND we had to do both the Prosecution and Defense (we would switch sides).

We did not win mock trial, but every single one of us on the team were very relieved. Some of the stuff that happened we totally didn't know would happen. Go figure.

However, I do think that it was totally worth doing it and I am glad that we had the chance to be able to participate in mock trial.

The judge also informed me that I look like Jodie Foster. Good deal.

J 'aime les vacances!

The Christmas season is absolutely, wholeheartedly, sincerely, entirely, most definitely my favorite time of the year. Who doesn't love it? Hot cocoa, Christmas music and embellishments, icy cold weather, snow, gifts, a roaring orange fire, and of course, Jesus birth. As Eldarwen once put it, "Without Christmas there would be no Easter."

So what exactly is Christmas all about? Linus shall explain...
(Disclaimer, video not mine)

I am entering Olivia @ (Of)Horse Feather's Words for Snow contest and Hannah @ Aspire's Beginning to look a lot like Christmas photo contest! I am entering this photo for both contests.

Blonde hair, Brown eyes, and a BIG Smile!

I am entering Hannah's photo contest! The theme is Joy and I captured this adorable little guy's smile when I was babysitting Monday.

He is two years old and is probably the happiest kid I have ever seen! I can't get over his precious chubby cheeks and the dimples on his hands.
